ASML is growing rapidly and hires thousands of new employees from all over the world every year. A good onboarding process is very important to give new employees understanding of the organisation en to make them feel welcome. Accordingly, ASML has asked Fresh Forces to develop an onboarding game.
Background
At ASML, new employees from all over the world are hired . The spread of these ‘onboarders’ is very high, because the organization organizes itself close to its customer (through many customer support offices). Therefore, a scalable solutionwas needed, that was easy to deploy everywhere, but at the same time offered a physical and impactful team experience.
Our approach
In co-creation with ASML we developed a blended onboarding game: ‘Mission Tomorrow’. On a digital platform, videos and digital challenges are used to unlock the game. Participents use materials from a physical game kit to solve the challenges. They will learn more about the technology, products, customers, quality and the primary process through a spectacular storyline about ASML’s first space mission
There is a strong focus on cooperation so players really get to know each other. They continue to build this bond, by meeting eachother to exchange their experiences during their first weeks at ASML.
Result
The game is used worldwide on the first day of new employees. The game is highly valued by new employees. They indicate that it is a great way to get to know the organisation and each other and it makes them feel welcome within ASML.
