“Can you develop a creative, inspiring vision and roadmap about sustainability and subsequently communicate it to and activate it among all involved stakeholders to generate a sense of pride, involvement, and action?”

Background
CurTec is a manufacturer of high-performance plastic packaging for high-end industries, such as the healthcare and pharmaceutical industry, that’s constantly looking for the best solutions and superior quality for its customers. This means CurTec is always in motion, searching for improvements – both at the level of the product and as an organization. This is one of the reasons CurTec is increasingly concerned with sustainability and Socially Responsible Entrepreneurship (SRE). The organization is, to give an example, manufacturing various bio-based packaging solutions and investigating closely how it can save energy.

Our approach
Together with CurTec, we created a mission, vision, and roadmap around sustainability. During the strategy days with CurTec’s management team, we used various creative methods to buy in and set up a shared vision and targets. Based on the ESG framework, these targets were subsequently finetuned into sub-targets with internal experts. All of this was visually translated into a roadmap. 

This roadmap was subsequently activated among CurTec’s 140 employees and the Executive Board by means of an away-day session for the organization’s leaders, a Sustainability Week for the other employees, and a closing pub quiz on this theme.

During the away-day session, managers were (among other things) activated on the roadmap through a podcast walk, assisted in translating the overarching targets to a team level through a target canvas, and trained to pitch the sustainability story.

During the Sustainability Week, the other employees were activated through “Loesje” posters on the three sustainability pillars, sustainability-dilemma videos, and a virtual journey through space, called Spacebuzz. We also created a plan for more sustainable business premises and helped create and place a job vacancy for the position of sustainability officer.

The result
All CurTec’s employees are familiar with the Sustainability Roadmap, which is being translated into tangible actions for teams. There is now a so-called “Green Team” of enthusiastic employees, who, together with the Sustainability Officer, are looking into ways to make the organization even more sustainable.
